Anyone else want to quit their jobs?

My wife is in the same position of more work but no increase in pay. Her company has let some people go and yet expects the same amount of work to be done with half the manpower.

Working for a municipality is never done on merit. Most towns around here hire based on the same political back room deals. Sure they advertise the opening to meet the requirements and then hire the one that repays a favor or is a relative of someone. Once in, they have a tendency to homestead the position until retirement time.

It's only going to get worse. If you still have a job be thankful. As bad as it is, I am thankful that with the current market I am disabled and draw disability. I would still like to work rather than to be disabled but at this point in time I have no idea what I am able to do. I still have far too many bad days to be gainfully employed.

Before you start carping over your status remember there is always someone out there that has it worse, much worse.

I'M NOT ALONE!!!

It's tough but nice to know you're not the only one dealing with it, you know?

That's a good peice of wisdom, and one can know that and still wish life to be easier... better... more fulfilling.

I know things are tough for everyone, and they could be tougher on me- it's just nice to let it out once in awhile.

I feel your pain. I'm trying to work to pay for school, but they cut my hours from 30 a week to 10. Now, we have everyone spread out, so 1 person is stuck doing the job of at least 2. Management treats everyone like poo, but expects us to sacrifice ourselves at a moments notice. After 3 years of work, I only make 55 cents more than minimum wage. I hate my job...

I had a paycut, followed by another paycut. No raises or bonuses in years.

I know the economy is bad. But in my case the company I work for is very profitable. I think companies like this are using the economy to stick it to their employees.

Then again, I'm grateful not to be out of a job. Go figure.

Yeah the company I work for bragged about a good year and then said no raises too. Grateful this is not where I will be spending the rest of my career (graduate this month and looking for a different job- one in my field). Anyone know anybody looking for an entry level Environmental Engineer with E.I.T. certificate?

I work in Automotive aftermarket , specifically Pickup Trucks :( I am home right now due to the slowdown at work. Everyday when I am at work is like hoping the job continues to the next day . I have worked for the same company for about 25 years and never have been in this sorry of a situation :( I wish I could just quit to relieve the stress. Some days seem fine but most lately don't.

Ouch! Hang in there! *hugs* I'm in the auto industry as well. We manufacture boring, surfacing and honing machines... This economy is really hurting those of us in the auto industry. To be in primarily pick ups has to sting.
