I was on my way to work today going SB on the local interstate on the way to work when the idea crossed my mind to pick up my cell, call in sick and just keep going south. Tulsa, Ok is just 2-3 hours away and has a great aquarium and supposedly a nice zoo to boot (never been to the zoo). Sounded like a nice, relaxing way to spend the day. Much better than being cooped up inside in 70-75 degree weather. I managed to resist the temptation (just barely though). I have to wear a suit for work and running around a zoo and an aquarium in a necktie just didn't seem like a good idea. Anyone else ever play hooky from work? I did one time and felt incredibly guilty. There were things that I normally do at work that didn't get done and caused problems the next day. Have never done it since.

Only after being up for 3 days straight fixing a broken system. I was too tired to go into work, I stayed home and slept!

:lipssealedsmilie: I have a few times when I was in college, but I always felt bad. Now I only take time off if I'm sick or if my daughter is.

When I was younger and didn't care much, yes. Now that I am older and have a career I don't do those sort of things. Heck I feel guilty for taking a darn Vac day sometimes!

Once I skipped a bunch of college classes to drive down to Baltimore to visit the Aquarium. :D

I'm kind of the same way. I'd like to take a vacation, have about two grand I could spend on a vacation, but can't bring myself to do it. I'm afraid work I do will fall between the cracks if I go and I'll struggle to pick it up again. I am a suffering workaholic as well. Took an on-line "Are you a workaholic?" test. 3 yes's and you were a workaholic. I answered yes to 16 of the 20 questions. Oh well, we all have issues.

umm yeah in my over 40 years of gainful employment i will quote sarah palin and say "You betcha"

matter of fact numerous times. Do i feel guilty? Nope!
Am I going to do it again (once again a little sarah palin quote) You Betcha!

Will I feel guilty?
Nope

Why?

There is more to life than a job, sometimes you just need to stop and smell the flowers, go to the beach, get away from the world and not be bothered with work.
It is called a "mental health day"
Are you really sick when u call in sick..yes u are you are not lying when you call in sick....Cause you are sick: Sick of work!!!

I firmly beleive that at least two times a year people should call in sick....sick of work!
I firmly beleive that they will be better employees in the long run; and more productive when they are at work.

Some people receive 250 million dollar bonuses to put their company into bankruptcy. These are the same people whose country club dues, golf green fees, and days at the spa are being paid for by the company they work for and the time they spend golfing is considered a business meeting.
Since I do not earn that type of bonuse, nor does my company pay for me to play golf or have a spa day; I figure I am at least entitled to take a sick day that they give me. So sometimes I am real sick..real sick of work!
