Based on photos from applesnail.net, I think they're Lymnaea auricularia, or possibly Lymaea ovata. I've googled them, but I can't find much information. When I purchased them, I thought I was getting Japanese trapdoor snails, which I know would be able to overwinter in my pond, but I'm not sure about these guys.

I made 2 attempts in the spring to buy Japanese trapdoor snails for my pond. The 1st time I ended up with olive nerite snails and the 2nd time I got these guys. I've since done some research and discovered that there are many species of snails which are, technically, trapdoor snails.

Looks like a physa species to me. common Pond snail.

How big are they? I love their little ears. Kinda Yoda like. Nice pics!

I wanted to say Lymnaea and Radix too, though I'm no good at ID'ing these snails.

Where did you get these? I wouldn't mind having a few.

Lets find msjinkzd!

Looks to me like a big Common Pond Snail. The color of it and the fact that they have these long flat antennea makes me sure of it. Every Spring I find loads of these in my pond, so I know that these can overwinter in 20 degree weather.

i was gonna guess physea species! i need to trust my instincts! i only know what i keep, and hate to guess outside that box.
