Man, this subject has been hashed, re-hashed, eaten, digested and defecated.

OG, why not make a sticky just for bashing/discussing Wal-Mart and lock any related thread as soon as it pops up?

OK...late as usual.

I am gonna have to say that Roger (one of the guys that work in that department) has been doing an outstanding job with taking car eof the fishes at my Wal~Mart. He has even taken it apon himself (with the managers permission) to have, what they call, "exotic fish of the month". Each month, he orders a fish they usually dont have. Thats where I bought my African butterfly fish (I got him for $8.95). He said he was gonna try to sneak in a few emperial plec's too....I gave him my number . :D

I will not make this a sticky for one simple reason--soon, we'd have a bunch of stickies bashing all the various chains, too. Bashing a business online is meaningless--venting, possibly, but ultimately does little to help anyone. As aquariasts, we soon learn to recognize the signs and symptoms of a poor source versus a good source. If anyone wants to write an article identifying those characteristics, without making generalizations such as 'Walmart sucks, never buy fish from them', I'll happily get that into the article forum.

Until then, I'm basically going to keep locking these down before they turn into huge monsters. Why? Because quite honestly, I do not think they serve a valid purpose, and they frequently turn nasty as people who have quality Walmarts in their area jump in to defend, then get bashed themselves.

I'm with the Onion lady......the "I hate walmart" theme gets a bit old.......

i love walmart, well the super walmart, the other older ones are garbage.
i purchased my red and white sarhassa comets from walmart for a very good price and a year later they are just beautiful. i never had a loss.
the tanks are clean and the fish dont look too bad, they look better than petco's
it may be because my super walmart is new.
i couldnt live without a walmart :dance2:

i guess wal-mart isnt much worst than a lot of lfs's where the people dont know what they are doing or just dont care. i was told to go to hell when i told my village lfs that he should look into cleaning his tanks and removing the dead fish from the filter intakes.sorry for generalising .it did feel good to vent though.

The big onoin has it right. These threads go nowhere save for the few that end in arguments. I like the idea of a "what to look for" in bad fishshops, and keeping specific names out of it. As long as replies were not of the nature of "guess what happened at x-store?"

Nothing would do too much in my area about it. (half of the people there already smell like dead fish.)

Store employees, or residents of the town? :sim:
