I'm ready to kick up myplants a notch, i bought some yeast, airline tubing and an airstoe to diffuse it. It's a 75 gallon tank, but im just gonna start with a 2 liter to see if it even works, does anyone have any words of caution or tips before i begin this adventure?
hydrate the yeast
keep the yeast at a warm room temperature, 80 degrees would be great
add a drop checker and a check valve
and finally i dont think 2l will be enough for a 75g tank.. my 10g runs on 3.5l, so for a 75g tank you would need like 10l to get results and even then it will be very unstable.

gas separator or bubble counter would be best..... though again with a 75 gal.... i would only do diy co2 just so you under stand how it works. dont expect much from it. save your money and get a pressurized system.
Although almost everyone will tell you that diy is not effective on large tanks, I found that ANY extra Co2 helps. When I first added Co2 to my 75 gallon it was only 1 two liter bottle and it was amazing what it did for the plants. Of course a pressurized system is the way to go and is what I use now but if you can get close to 100% diffusion any extra Co2 will help. Once you see what can do you will eventually buy a pressurized system only because they are so much less work and can be controlled easier especially if you use a pH controller.
