There was an article in TFH magazine many moons ago that stated that there was a morph of the Oscar that was in fact a blue. I know...I know...I was the first one to yell "stinky foul" when I saw the BB Oscar. Hell, I bought one that eventually died (not dyed). I was posting the same about the "dye job". Here's the photo that was printed with the article:
I bought am Albino Veiled Tiger Oscar from Jeff Rapps a while back. He described the appearance as being white with some "blue undertones". It wasn't blue of course but I saw what he meant. The part of the body that was free of markings. You can't see it in these photos, but I wanted to show this beautiful fish:
I have see the obvious "dyed blue" Oscars for sale at the LFS. But the information published in what I consider to be a respectable magazine (TFH) has made me rethink my original opinion. I think the majority (vast majority) of the fish on the market are dyed. VUt I do believ that with all of the various flavors of Oscar available today that it is possible.
