I was introduced to kefir today and LOVED it, I loved it so much that I have some fermenting at this moment and am giddy with excitement for the next 24 hours to pass so I can drink some of the YUMMY stuff. Anyway, anyone here drink it and if so could you share your experience with it?

I never even heard of kefir until this thread. I googled it and it sounds very interesting. Are you using reg. milk or coconut milk? If all turns out well post your recipe, I woulldn't mind trying it. I thought it was some sort of homemade alcohol when I first read this, Especially with "fermenting" in the post.:duh:

I am using regular milk, since I don't care for coconut milk. It is fairly simple to make you just have to have a "starter" culture. Simply steep a gallon of milk, let it cool to room temperature, add your starter culture, cover the pot with a cheesecloth and allow to stand unrefrigerated for 18 to 24 hours.

Cool, The site I was on mentioned adding flax seed oil and that you could also add fruit.

I made a smoothie with it once, it was delicious. Kefir, blueberries, a banana...maybe something else. Anyhow, I've never had it plain before. Any grocery store brand recommendations? I probably won't go to the health food store for it and I definitely won't make my own :P But I know our regular grocery store has plain Kefir, I might try that (whichever brand it is)

None of my local grocers carry it, heck none of them have ever even heard of it. It is good with fruit blended into it but I like it just plain too.
