anyone know a lot about catfish?

Gotta love the Flatheads, really the only catfish in america that will reach 6 foot. Blues go heavier, but have a fuller body and don't get as long. Channels are the smaller of the three, but far too big for a tank. I cought two last night on the lake that wouldn't fit in less than a 300g tank comfortably. I really like the pictus cats but they will eat small fish, and aren't for certain tanks. Cories would be my safe reccomendation for a community tank with anyhting smaller than 2.5" fish.

I bought a synoditis recently. They are a type of African catfish. Mine is syno. eupterus I think. They get to be a decent size but mine is still small. Planet Catfish says it reaches a max. size of 6" and can be kept in larger community tanks. Mine is still small, probably less than an inch and a half. Soon to be going into a 72 gallon tank.

For smaller tanks, roughly 30-40 gallons or less, they recommend Synodontis nigriventris.

You forgot the Banjo catfish which, apart from plecos, may now be my favorite catfish just because it looks so d*** cool! It is completely sedentary and won't touch your other fish, though you may never see it...

Banjo Catfish:

The Banjo Catfish is for the person looking for something unusual, and they truly have a body shape that resembles a banjo! They are a very peacful fish and are desireable in any community aquarium.

Banjo Catfish are compatible with all sizes of community fish, even the smallest of tankmates. They are hardy and adjust to a variety of aquarium conditions. Because the Banjo Catfish is a nocturnal, it feeds at night. It is also a burrower and prefers a sandy bottom and light vegetation.
