read the basics on the skippy filter and then scroll down to the "Mini-Me Skip Jr." section and that will probably help you get an idea. You don't even really have to get quite this fancy with the plumbing.
I made one from a half-barrel liner with the fall spout on it. I ran tubing from the pump up into the top of the unit and circled it down to the bottom inside. Then I put a layer of lava rock, a layer of blue air conditioner pad, another layer of lava rock and another layer of blue pads. The water circulates from the bottom up to the top and pours back into the pond. I also top it off with Water Hyacinths so I get some veggie filtration and they hide the blue pads. It has worked great on my pond this summer. The water has stayed clear and the pond has stayed cleaner.
Hi Tiller. Check out our clubs website at: www.geocities.com/ont_pondkeper
in the water conditioning section. There you will find a diagram of a filtration system that we've been using for years and the best we've ever used.
It's easily made and maintained and if you built it large enough not only for the size of the pond but for the amount of fish you have, your water will always be crystal clear and you'll never have hair algae.
Hi Tiller. Take a look at our club website at: www.geocities.com/ont_pondkeper and in the water conditioning section you will see how to make your own biological filter. If you have any questions or need any help, just let me know. These filters are easily made and maintained and you never clean the plastic scrubbies that are used to hold the colonies of bacteria.
