I was just wondering how they acted around 2-3 inches. Mine just hides out and is very shy but in the store it was kicking the crap out of like 12 other ones.

How long have you had it? It may just be getting use to the new surroundings.

i dont own one but if he is recently new it will take a little time before he acts normal, My blood parrot id for 3 days and after that and for the year i had her she is a real fun fish with alot of personaly. also there are no fish with him to bully so i do not think agression with be a problem. My BP was bullying a Red Devil and anot theJDs so i do not know what is going on in that head of hers.

I just got him yesterday so I know its early. I thought it was sick at first because it just sat on the bottom but when I touched the glass near it the fish would totally freak. The butti is starting to swim around some now also. I figure when it takes out the 3 serpae's that are left in the tank he will be right.

my JDs were like that the first day, i bet he is breathing heavy too.

He is really coming along. He's already showing slight aggression towards the serpae.

What does everyone feed there's?

Anything they want..LOL

he will need his own tank one day as they are MEAN SOB'S
they also will set the tank up as they see fit, they are excavaters at heart I am on my 2nd one, long move a few years back required me to give my13"er away. Very smart, mean and good looking fish, my old one would chase kids and anyone siting in the chair next to his tank, enjoy your butti!
