Anyone Own African Dwarf Frogs?

Thanks so much for the links, I'll take a look @ them.

So I hand fed the frogs and they took the bloodworms right out of my hands! it was definitley interesting to watch them slowly gulp it down hehe. I am going to make a trip to Big Als tomorrow to see about some live food.

Another Question: My fiance wants to put them into our 50 gallon tank with our pleco (also putting a couple gourami's into this tank later on) - do you think that would be bad for them? would the other fish eat all of their food? I would much rather keep them in the 20 gallon tank i bought for them but FH thinks they'll do better in a bigger tank. We are first time owners of these little frogs btw - so any help is appreciated.

I had some years ago, and fed them frog bites that I bought from the LFS. After about a year they eventually grew large enough to where they could eat not only my platy and mollie fry, but some of my smaller neon tetras.

I have 2 ADF's in a 5gallon tank with 2 female guppies (I had to get them away from those males :p: ).

I feed them regular frog bites, frozen bloodworms (which they love the best), and frozen brine shrimp. I have also seen them eating the algae that grows on the leaves of the live plants in their tank. I have read that you should feed them the frog bites more often (maybe every other day) because it is more balanced in terms of nutrients. They can not live on bloodworms alone.

I feed them frozen foods with a small eyedropper. I thaw the frozen foods in a babyfood jar with a little bit of tank water. Then I suck up a few worms or shrimp into the eyedropper. I always feed them in the same place in the tank. I tap on a rock at the bottom of the tank when there's food and they know to come to that place. I squeeze out the food right in front of their faces. Once in awhile they will clamp onto the tip of the eyedropper and won't let go, so I have to kinda shake them off ;) . The frog bits I just set in the bottom of the tank and tap on the rock and they find them.

They are great to watch, and not really hard to maintain.

Good Luck

Michele

I put a tiny terra cotta saucer on the bottom of my tank, and use it as an ADF "dinner plate". I put bloodworms and frog bites on the saucer and the frogs swim over to it, plop down in the middle of it, and chow down. This keeps food from getting lost in the substrate, it let's me see how much they're eating, and after a few days, the frogs became conditioned to check the saucer first when they smell food in the water. It's easier than getting your whole arm into the tank to handfeed them (although i still do that sometimes...it's quite entertaining), and it keeps your tank from getting dirtied with stray food. Sometimes mine swim over and search the plate for food even when it's empty:D
