I would go with TFH one of the best magazines out there IMO. I like the articles, the pictures are great, they touch on a lot of freshwater fish and cichlids. The book is very well put together and the issues are hard bound and there is lots of reading material. The website has issues you can browse online as well. http://www.tfhmagazine.com/
Alright I listened to the popular choice and just subscribbed to Tropical Fish Hobbyist. THanks for all your input.

Aquarium Fish was written on a level so that more of the Newbie Hobbyist could follow it w/o too much outside reference to keep up.
I also liked that when they touch on a particular subject, they usually covrred it to my satisfaction & didn't leave me with too many unanswered questions.
TFH,...just seemed to have more Q & A space that appealed to me. FOR ME most of the good stuff that I was the most interested in was in the Q & A section & I would read it, hoping that it would keep continuing on the next page or so & most of the time,...IT DID!
I also liked the ad spots in the back of the book & used them on many occasions to purchase things.

Thats awesome, from your description TFH is exactly what I am looking for! Can;t wait for the first issue to arrive in..... GRRRRRR 8-10 weeks.

you will probabally get 2 to 3 issues within the first issue so you will have plenty of reading material. I already recieved the august issue!
This just keeps getting better and better. Im going to be foaming at the mouth until they arrive.
I get them both. They are both good reads. I like TFH slightly better but I will continue to subscribe to both.
