I have a question? Does anyone use carbon on thier reef tanks? I have a 46 bow that just won't get crystal clear... Its clear but looks a tad cloudy... I thought about carbon.. I used to use "ACCU-CLEAR" on my freshwater tanks, but the bottle says for freshwater use only? Anyone ever use this on a salt water tank?

Again, just really curious about the carbon though???

Thanks

I've been running carbon in my Aquaclear 300 hang-on. I don't use the sponge, just the carbon pouch, and so far my tank has been very clear.

Thanks for that info.. I have an aquaclear 200 on this tank as well as another HOB emperor... I will pick up a pouch tomorrow to put in the 200....

I use it if my water is cloudy or if I've used medication. It's great at cleaning junk of your water. I don't use it all the time just when needed. If you have a reef you don't want to use it all the time either it will take a lot of the nutrients out of the water that your corals etc. need.

Many reefers, myself incuded, use carbon 24/7. It removes the yellow compounds put out by softies and macroalgae and cuts down chemical warfare. I just have a sack in a high-flow area of the sump.

Count me in as another 24/7/365 user!! ;) Some will say that it sucks out some imortant compounds but I do plenty of water changes and ad B Ionic. My water is crystal clear and my critters look happy!

24/7 unless its loud in the hob filter, then i turn it off until i can top off with fresh water.
