anyone using the tidepool wet/dry?

Just bought a Tidepool II wet/dry at a fish store in Stocton, Cal for a song and am looking forward to trying it out.
Dont know much about these types of filtration but have heard
many positive things about their capabilities.
So, just wanted to know what info you could shed about
these?
Are they noisy at all?
I like the idea of being able to put my heater in the sump, that's cool.
The bio wheel is HUGE, that has to be great!!
Seems like it will be easy to keep clean, since the filter/box just slides out?
What about overflows?

Anyway, I will be using this on a 135 gallon tank with a couple of
emperor 280's for my African setup.
I also have a RIO 2800 SS pump to return the water, which should give me approx. 600 gph. , that sounds good!
Any info is greatly appreciated, thanks, FG.

The only thing that sucks is when you lose power. If you don't drill a small hole in your output it will backsiphon water and you end up getting water on your floor. Otherwise you should install a check valve. I have one, but I have not installed it yet. Otherwise, very nice filter. I like the multiple bays that allows for swapping out different types of media, etc.

Also, make sure you have clear access to the trays for easier cleaning and the like. I made the mistake of putting my TidePool I *behind* my stand for visual reasons and now I'm paying for it.

TidePools are nice (and they work quite well), but you'll want to graduate to a different kind of w/d within the year.

I'm also considering the Tidepool2 for my 240 to work in
conjunction with my Magnum 350's...Why do you suggest
graduating to another w/d ?

It seems to me that TidePool is a good intro into the w/d world, but there are better constucted and better functioning (not to mention better access to media and what-not) w/d filters out there.

But then again, that's just my opinion.
