hi,
I am having trouble matching the colour to the chart. My tapwater results where not showing as brown, being 8..but not purple either.
The colour it turns is a sort of dark pinky red, nowhere near the colours on chart.
I have used 2 separate api kits & had the same result. In the past i have always had 8 to 8.2,but this i dont know.

Can you take a picture of your test tube lined up next to the color chart?

Are you letting the tapwater sample sit overnight before you test it? This way you get a true reading of what the water pH is. Just run some water in a shallow dish and let it sit for 24hrs before testing. Also what does the pH in your tank test at?

You might can contact your local water system department and see if any there have been any changes to the way they are treating the water in your area lately too.

Hi,
My tapwater first reading is 7.4 for first 3 days, then it rises to 8.2 ish after that. But lately i just cant tell what results are, with this odd colour.

Tank is 7.4 as i have peat in filters, also peat treat water before it goes in tank.Just wish i had one ph level, instead of tapwater being a pain.

Found out recently that my water company uses chloramine, dont know if that can affect ph?
