Noticed today when I looked in the tank that one of my females was chasing every body around - sure enough, probably 50 or so free swimmers.

This is a new group of cac's that I got, 2 male, 4 female, the male is a tunner, and he's the one that bred with the female, because the other male keeps getting chased away.

Anyway, thought I'd share the good news.

Here's a pic from my cell... - without the flash, the little buggers are perfectly camouflaged with the gravel...

wow couldn't see em till i clicked the pic to full size and i see their little faces ,.. so cute

what kind of Cacatuoidesare they?( ie double red etc.,)

i found juvies for sale at a lfs, they were from a local customer and look great but it dosent state which ones they are,.. :irked:

They're triple reds. Triple Reds, will throw single reds, double reds, and triple reds. They pretty much all do, just the ratio should be higher if starting with Triples. In other words, even if you had Double Reds, you'd likely end up with singles, doubles, and triples.

So, we'll see how they turn out finnage-wise and sex ratio-wise. I'm keeping them all in the main tank (100g, lightly stocked so that these guys could start a colony). In this scenario, I'm sure the survivors will be less than if I siphoned them out in a couple weeks, but I'm sure I'll have a nice collection to pull from as I decide to sell later.

It takes a while to be able to sex them accurately...

I likely will sell some, but that's several months away. It take a while to be able to sex them out, especially the females from the sneaker males.

Incidentally, another female has stolen the entire brood from the mother and is now looking after them. Watching these guys parent is a great honor and completely fascinating.
