I have 2 male a. agassizii I've had for about a year, gotten when >1 inch. (1 had looked female but isn't). LFS has small aggies just about sexable. Are the males too old to breed, or rather will they be, when the female grows up?

Also is it better to introduce the male into the female's tank? Seems like it might be safer for her, even after she grows she'll be smaller.

I haven't had cichlid babies in a long time & seems like fun. Any other apisto tips?

I hear that Apistos don't have long life spans, but what's the worst that could happen? Buy a couple females and see what happens. If they males don't or can't breed with them, maybe you could go back and buy a couple of younger males.

They will be fine, this fish can breed at a VERY young age, by the time most of them hit 1" long they can breed. So about 6-8 months to reach sexual maturity.
