Apistogramma cacatuoides breeding behavior

If the male is still permited in the cave then they havn't yet "done the deed." Once eggs are laid the male will not be permitted anywhere near the cave. The female will become very protective of it, and depending on the individual female, and tank size/aquascaping may even kill the male (watch out for this and be ready to step in)
 
When I got home today, the male and female were and still are swimming side by side and the female keeps pressing up against the male, then they take turns following eachother.
