I have a question about snails. I recently bought 2 gold apple snails (about 2 months ago, and they were living in my sons goldfish tank. I just bought a 10 gallon tank for a qt tank, and also bought my wife 2 blue mystery snails. So now all 4 snails are living in that tank. I have been looking up info on these snails, as I am a newbie to snails, but after watching my tank daily, I have never seen eggs in the tank, or in any other tanks for that matter. However two days ago, I found 1 baby snail crawling inside the tank. Is it possible for either the golds or the blues to lay only 1 egg?

That is what I thought, but the tank is brand new. I bought it for a quarantine tank, with new gravel, filter system, the works. The gold snails were in one of my other tanks (no other snails in their original tank either). I bought the blue mystery snails at the same time as the tank. I put them into the tank to help it cycle. Would it have been possible for an egg to have been stuck to one of the blues when I brought it home from the lfs? The tank has been set up for about 2 weeks now if that helps (because I do not know the length of time it takes for eggs to hatch).

I'd say it is one of those pesty snails. They multiply fast! I have bought fish that had those hitchhikers on them. It was prob. on the blues when you bought them like you said. I would get rid of it if you dont want thousands in your tank. My dads tank was so bad he fought with them for months trying to rid them he finally just got rid of the tank and bought a new one. LOL thats one way of doing it I guess. Good Luck hope you dont end up with the same thing as him.
