Ok so i found a website that had Canas listed as mystery snails, but they said they were not for sale. I called to see when they would be for sale and, more importantly, where he was located. Turns out he was in california so it doesn't matter anyway BUT he said that the USDA got to him and they wanted him to pay $50 per state to get a license to ship his canas (he has thousands), and then he said that the USDA's goal is to completely ban every apple snail within ten years, making them pretty much extinct/endangered....Is there any way this is true? if so this is really upsetting...

You can't get permits for canas. The guy sounds like he doesn't really know what he's talking about if you ask me, though I wouldn't doubt more extreme regulations on apples, depending on the state.

It certainly wouldn't be on a nationwide scale anyways. You don't have to worry about the USDA wanting to push all apple snails to extinction, especially with certain species being considered beneficial in some areas like flapples in florida.

and then he said that the USDA's goal is to completely ban every apple snail within ten years, making them pretty much extinct/endangered....
Well, it's not like apple snails exist only in captivity, so I don't see how even a total ban on possession would cause them to go extinct.

If msjinkz says its hogwash... it probably is!! :thm:

whew, glad thats settled lol. thanks guys :)
