Hi guys. I have one purple striped male apple snail and just placed 4 others with him. Not sure if the 4 new snails are male or female but the purple male has been trying to mate with two so far. One of them had its door tightly shut an the male was still trying. Does this mean that these two are for sure females or a chance that my big male is just desperate for attention from another snail.? He's been alone for a few months now. I know land snails have a scent wave (or something of that nature) that attract other snails even though they are hermaphroditic. Do aquatic snails of seperate sexes have this same way of calling or sensing the opposite sex?
