april in nyc, tanks already overheating.

All my tanks hit 90+ today.. this early in the year too. Weather's really been wacky.

I have to say I find it ironic... Here in Hawaii it's been rainy, and temps are probably around 80-84. Then again, our hot/humid weather usually slams us July/august/September...

Well today was 81f all my tanks are on the second floor and my tanks are at 71-72f with my 4 80mm pc fans blowing on the water surface on my big 55g with 216w t5ho and half covered top temps never go pasted 72f. Just get some 80 or 120mm pc fans and get a 12v power adapter and you should be good to go. In the summer here it hits 115f+ outside, my house is set at 78f and my tanks never go passed 77f. Good luck

You freeze tank water in the bottles? If it's sealed in the bottle, wouldn't normal tap water be okay?

How do your fish react to the icebergs?
well i just dont want to worry about it. i freeze them let them thaw out in the tanks some times there is some leaks this way it doesnt matter it the water gets dumped in.

I like the idear of the frozen bottles. I guess, if you still have the heater on the tank, you wouldn't have to be too worried about it getting to cool right?

I was just thinking on the lines of those party ice cubes. You know the little ones that look like minature golf balls and such. Just plop a few of them in and rotate as needed.

Wonder how long the ice treatment lasts and the temperature drop?

Just make sure your re-freezable party ice cubes are the kind that only have water inside, not the antifreeze chemicals, just in case of leaks. No blue ice cooler packs!

Mellow - it was 88 in my house when I got home from work that day! Today I'm freezing since the outside temp. dropped from a record of 92 on Wednesday to a normal April temp. of around 52. The news last night said there would be some 30F temps. tonight west of NYC. I'm west.....hope they are wrong!!
