AqAdvisor.com - WEB version of AquAdvisor

I'll give it a shot. If you have any web references to this filter, that would help too...

Good luck with your next tank! Nice size. :)

don't know how much info you need but it's rated for 30 gallons with a max flow of 79gph, so if you add in flow loss by adding media to the filter, puts it at 60-65gph.

Very nice. I have a small recommendation. I would change the size of leopard bushfish to 6 inches as opposed to 8 inches. Also, do not mark them as aggressive at any level except being predatory. If possible, recommend only one bushfish for tanks under 75 gallons. I also recommend adding the antennae stingray.

Oh yeah and also mark blind cave tetras as being fine in groups of 3. They do just fine with only 3 fish, not nervous at all. I still would recommend more than two though.

You seem to be right with the size. In captive environment, it is more like 6 inches than 8. I'll update it - thanks.

I can make the warning on aggressiveness but still keep the warning about it being too large against small species.

Currently, the minimum tank size is 55g. Is this too small?

I'll add your new species to the wishlist.

Thanks!

I think shoaling species do vary from individual to individual. I am a bit worried about setting shoaling number down to 3, in case others may experience different outcome... Is this a well-documented behavior for this species?

Thanks.

Normally, two male gouramies are not recommend in the same tank and I was thinking about adding some messages here... How old are they?

I don't have exact ages, but both are full grown adults and they've been in the tank for 3 months now. It may also be a matter of tank size. I don't know that they would get along as well if they were in a 20 or 30 gallon, or even a tall tank since gouramis are labrynth fish so I tend to think of their footprint on the surface in the same way I think of a bottom feeder. They do tend to swim together about 60% of the time.

Increasing the planting level of the tank (no surface plants though) has also reduced the feeding-time aggression to almost non-existent. I can check with the LFS where I got them (they only order males) in order to see if they are wild-caught or tank raised which may also impact the behavior. I actually wanted to avoid having a mated pair since I had trouble with breeding aggression before with the gold gouramis. That pair started beating up everything else in the tank as soon as the bubble nest appeared and I learned to transfer them to a breeding tank as soon as the the female started getting heavy.
The presence of a female in the tank might also trigger aggression as well so it's hard to say from just my experience.
