Aqua-clear Sadness

I am now up to 18 AquaClears (from Mini to 300) running on assorted tanks. I have yet to have one overflow. I also do weekly maint. that involves rinsing the media and replacing any floss. Most of them have a prefilter sponge over the intake.

I got my first Aquaclear (20) last month and love it so far. I too use a pre-filter on the intake, an Aquaclear 30 sponge. 2 sponges in the basket. It is a LOT quieter than the mini bio-wheel too, due to the wider and therefore smoother waterfall. I also like how the flow control works as opposed to the mini bio wheel.

Ive used the aquaclear filters for years without a hitch....what i have seen people doing is not putting the basket and sponge down all the way.

I agree. I've used the same aquaclear for 14 years, never had spillage. The problem seems to be that people do not press the basket all the way down or don't use the cover. The basket gets floats up and the sponge blocks the flow. But if you keep the filter clean it should be fin. Side note: I strongly recommend AC biomax ceramic beads for bio filtration.

Try putting your floss under your sponge then press everything all the way down into the basket as mentioned earlier. You should not have any problems of overflow unless you are using too much floss.

10 years using ACs, no problems.
