With filters in particular, I've found online sources are far better than the local sources. I saved about 40% buying my Magnum online. That's even after shipping. I have heard that Petco will match prices if you bring them in--but, I've also heard people say they wouldn't. Who wants to go through that dance.
Edited to add: I could certainly see wanting to support an independent in your area, if they have worked with you and you like their service. Sometimes it's worth paying a bit more.
