Down at my Local River. The TN river.... They just dumped about 50 dump drunk loads of rock. Well the rock they dumped is VERY nice looking. And sense its going in a river I didnt think it would be harmful to fish. One person there told me it was limestone. So I went and took about 40lbs of rock. Only paid 10 bucks for it. Will it be ok to use this in my tank?
 
you could try putting in a container and see how the water changes..
 
Limestone increases your pH and water hardness. It is great if you want to keep cichlids that prefer hard water.

To lower the PH i can use PHdown. And Im keeping Angelfish and and African cichlids...... I know i have had everyone tell me that the combo wont work. But the guy I got my tank from had 3 Cichlids and 4 big angelfish for around a year without any problems. So im gunna try it and see how it works
 
after reading up on the cichlids some more. I found a few American/new worlds like the German Blue ram and their peaceful cichlids so i might do those instead of the Africans
 
Don't use ph down, you are causing more harm than good. When you use chemicals the ph is not constant. When it keeps varying it will stress and kill your fish. The PH of most all water is fine for alomost any fish as long as it stays stable. But if you really have a high PH then I reccommend driftwood to lower it and keep it constant. Limestone raises PH and hardness, so I also reccommend removing it to get PH down. But like I said, it should be fine as long as it stays constant.

as of now its about 6.8-7.2..... Well i mean if i put Limestone in my tank and the PH rises. I can get my normal tap water wich is 6.8 and do water changes

It would change for a little while, but it would probably only take a couple of hours to get back up again. Trust me you won't have a problem. My tank water's PH is 8.2 and I have kept neon tetras, which prefer a lower PH. Don't get all hung up on PH, as it is not a big deal. As I said before, as long as it is constant you will not have problems.
