So I need a water pump. Today at a thrift store, I found a 30-60gal filter (picture here) I was wondering if I could take off the bottom plating and take out the pump in there. I'm not sure if its a normal pump, like the one you would use to replace a water fountain, or if its an underwater pump. The bottom plating says "Do not remove this plate". I'm assuming that it wont go back on if i do, or its some sort of electrical hazard. I don't want to pull it off and possible ruin it if it wont get me what I want. Has anyone torn one of these apart, or know if a pump like what I need is in there?

no you cant remove it its not a real water pump like your wanting. its just the motor that makes the impellor spin. and no you cant put it under water either its not water proof nor made to use that way.
