AquaClear 20 in 5g?

Can I use a AquaClear 20 in a 5g?

Over the weekend I picked up 5g so I could house both bettas together. I had been using the dinky Whisper 3i in a 2.5g but obviously that won't cut it now. My sister has the larger Whisper in her 5g and personally I think it sucks and does little more stir the water.

So would the AC20 create too much current in the 5 gallon?
 
both bettas? are they males?

you should be ok but may want to watch how they do.
you can adjust the flow on ac's a bit too.

Thanks for the reply. Good to know. Figured I can pack alot of media in there to slow it down too.
 
The AC20 should be fine for a 5 gallon. Just adjust the flow until you get it where you and your fish are comfortable. I would still watch the two bettas togather. Even with a male/female combo in the same tank can be a disaster. One usually will kill the other. There is a reason why they call them fighting fish.

I would watch them VERY closely. I'd be skeptical on keeping any 2 bettas in a tank that small, they just seem so territorial. The dominant red is full of colour, but usually the non-dominant is stressed and showing her lines, and this is a 75g.
 
Well my sister has kept 4 bettas in 5g for well over a year. They all get along. No fighting, nipping, or color loss. Its over crowed but it can be done if the fish have the right temperament.

Now in my tank I have a divider because my betta will attack anything that moves. I know I shouldn't have got the girl given his personality but her coloring was so unique I couldn't pass her up.
 
even so you will want to keep an eye on the fish since bettas can become aggressive.
