Does anyone else have this problem? I have an aquaclear 110 for my 65 gallon and the filter keeps on raising up out of the socket. Im thinking i should duct tape it shut. I first thaught it was because the filter was clogged but i cleaned the sponge and it still does this. I also lowered the water flow to the lowest and it still comes out of the socket...

you mean your media is floating to the top? that was kinda what I got out of the explanation anyway ;)

if thats' the case, you could try putting a heavier media on top of your sponge like the AC bio-media (the little ceramic donut looking things) which might keep it from floating.

yeah..i already have that bio media pouch (looks liek little white gravel)...and a carbon pouch (looks like little black gravel) aswell....and it still keeps on rising and pushing the top off the aquaclear filter...

I dont seem to have this problem with my mini aquaclear filter for my 10 gallon.

wow weird. my 50 doesn't do that either.

did yours come with the plastic bracket-like thing that holds it all together? my 50 came with this thing that the sponge fits into and slides down into the media area. maybe that's what is holding mine down

the only other idea i have is to get a paperweight and sit it on top of the filter.

yeah..it comes with that grey holder that holds the sponge, carbon and bio media in together... maybe ill just have to put a dictionnary over the lid??

well the only stuff I could find about floating media is it usually means the basket and media need to be rinsed out a bit. if you already did that though I'm kinda at a loss. good luck!

Make sure the sides of the media basket are digging into the sponge. You may want to put some weight on top of the stack, but under the lid. Remember, media that doesn't get wet won't do you any good. :)

also make sure the filter is as level as possible >.> It works best that way.
