AquAdvisor - software to help you stock your tanks!

Oh and I just checked DB, it says Harlequins are defined as 1.5 inches... Does yours say 1 inch?

Yes, mine(v0.4) says "1 inch".

And I did uninstall v0.3 before installing v0.4 (in case of possible file conflicts).

it would be really sweet to get 16g bowfront added o.o
have we already asked about an option for planted/not planted? it's become such a long thread, i can't remember lol

the species list is really starting to become awesome.

Can you do me a favor and measure the length and height of your tank in inches? I can figure out the "average depth" if I have these two numbers along with the volume. Then I can add it to the list easily. :)

And yes, planted option is on my wishlist, although I'm still not sure what to do with it. Presence of plants do provide some buffer but it depends on which plants and how much of them. May be I can initially start off with lightly planted / medium / heavily planted. But I don't want to give people impression that you can overstock tanks by adding more plants.

true dat.

my tank is 20x18x13

Perhaps a generic stocking level option would be easier? Then you could just put a note that the higher stocking levels are not recommended for beginners and work better with plants. Just a thought...

Yes, this would be far easier. Less stocked tanks are easier to maintain so for beginners, this is what they should do.

Some comments on the database:

  1. Swordtails are omnivores. I got a warning that it requires a vegetarian diet.
  2. For consistency, can you supply the common names of fish where you only provided the scientific names?
Please add:

  • Glass bloodfin tetra (Prionobrama filigera)
  • Black ghost knife fish (Apteronotus albifrons)
  • Stonelapping minnow (Garra cambodgiensis)

Gratz, you found another bug in the software. :D

Internally, it is counted as 1.5 inches but my grid control on the right side is converting everything to integer before display. I'll fix that on the next version.

Will fix it.

I looked into this. For most species, this makes sense. But for African Cichlids, they are better known under scientific names. It even confuses me to figure out which common names belong to a particular species.

Please add:

  • Glass bloodfin tetra (Prionobrama filigera)
  • Black ghost knife fish (Apteronotus albifrons)
  • Stonelapping minnow (Garra cambodgiensis)

Will do.
