AQUAPOD 24 SLIGHTLY MODDED

Thank you. I am hoping that the second iteration of my tank will look as nice as the first. I missed it. lol. But you live and learn. From my experience the hood looks pretty cool, but causes more hassles than it is worth. For example, it dramatically raises temperatures, cuts down on the ability to add a chiller with more modifications to the hood, can't install a protein skimmer and is difficult to work on the inside of the tank with the lights on (when you raise the hood the lights shine in your face... so you have to turn off lights before working... which can be difficult. So, in short, I am huge fan of the stand alone units (I love the Sunpod).

update!

i finally got around to silicone the back in. here are some pics. didn't come out as good as i wanted . but it will do.

What's wrong with it?? Looks good to me. And the amount of space that you saved by taking out the false back has got to be great. I think it add close to 4 total gallons. When you are done playing with it, you are always welcome to send it my way. LOL>

Really though, what aren't you happy with? A bit of false modesty maybe, lol. Seriously, it looks very nice. Looking forward to seeing what else you... I would love to take out the false back and install an overflow.

LOL. When are you gonna fill it? I really wish I could do something like that... ever thought of selling the overflow, etc. as a kit? I could glue stuff together and have a friend help me drill out the back... That four extra gallons and a sump/fuge would be so nice to have.

i probably wont fill it for a few weeks at least. i still have to build / buy a stand. build the fuge /sump. sell my clam (he is to huge for this tank!) plus i wont have any time to even think about this tank until Wednesday. i have three fuges to build and three tanks. don't want to rush the pod anyway. i want to do it right the first time.
