Aquaponic living wall...would it work outside?

I stumbled upon this article. It looked so cool, I want to try this on my outside 20 gallon tank:

Since it's going to be outside, I'm not worried about mess or spills. It does look like a lot of work, but not too difficult! (I wouldn't really want to try this inside, although I'm sure it could be done in a way that wouldn't be drippy.)

Because the wall is white and Florida summers get brutally hot, I'd probably be limited to using ivy and other tough trailers, perhaps the spider plants and some asparagus fern.

Anybody done something like this before?

Oh, thanks. I haven't been able to get here since about then either. Trying to catch up. Neat idea though.
 
I imagine that outdoos should not be too different, so long as you allow for evaporation, and take seasonal temperatures into account.
