You may try a window tinting supply shop and see if they have the adhesive spray used on some window tints.

There was a DIY waterbased adhesive spray I remember seeing somewhere but because age has caught up with me I cant remember what I did 15 minutes ago.

I just received my order from Big Al's (a hour ago)and I had ordered the sea view. I did put the background on using it and it worked great. I never thought about vaseline or I might have saved the money and tried that. Oh Well I had a pretty big order and with the free shipping I still saved lots of $$.
It may be a challange if you can't reach the back of the tank very well. I have a new set up so it was a breeze. Good Luck!!

well atleast we now know that seaview works..

next water change will try and "carefully" move the tank away from the wall and try the vaseline..

will probably cost more than sea-view!?! not sure

but from what i remember dont think theres any special adhesive spray, just water/soap mix
