Aquarium Cover knock-outs all gone! Fix?

I tried the hardware store... The plexi-glass size I need is about $20 and they DONT cut it for you, so I would have to struggle to cut it myself! The glass panels are cheaper ($12 for size I need) but once again Home Depot does NOT cut glass for you and there is no Lowes within 30 miles. Home Depot just pointed me to the section with glass cutters and being in an apartment, I an not willing to try cutting it myself with a toddler around and no yard.

Guess I will just have to bite the bullet and buy another hood or get one of those versatops from all-glass. Most likely will be a versatop as they are cheaper then the full hood, and my lights are a separate striplight unit that is still in perfect condition. It has to be special ordered, but at $25 its less then getting the full hood assembly ($50) and we will be able to see the fish without opening the top.

I wanted to resolve it sooner for cheap but these are the breaks! I will order it on the next paycheck unless I figure another option. Thanks for all the responses!

Do you have a glass shop in town. Take a look in the phone book there are bound to be a few there and they will cut the glass to fit.

I thought of that, but it dawned on me that they would have to cut out an opening for the filter as well in the back. And if I ever need to cut something the glass again (maybe for another filter in the future or airslines, etc) then I would have to take it down off the tank and bring is back to the glass shop for cutting again.

The versatop seems best as it has that plastic part in the back that is made for cutting with a regular household scissor when I need it. Thanks for all the suggestions though. =)

Just get a flat glass top for the tank. These are made so that the section in the back 25% of the top is made of clear plastic that you can cut.

Your separate light fixture goes over the middle section of glass and the front section opens for feeding.
