FWIW you should consider using two lower watt heaters instead of one higher watt.
If you have a 200w on a 50 gallon and something does wrong with the heater, you could either end up with fish stew or some very stressed/sick fish.
If you use two 100w heaters they will work in tandem to keep your tank at the setting you use. If one goes bad, then the other will shut off when the temp gets too high. The bad one will be unable to heat the water up enough to overtly harm the fish. Safety margin.
I use 2 heaters on all my tanks. My 75gs have 2 x 150w Stealths.
