Aquarium salt ok for tropical fish?

When I received my tank from a co-worker she had aquarium salt in the box of things with the tank? Is it safe to use with all types of fish?

whats it for? cleaning the equipment when your done with everything and planning on storing it? or just useless garbage the lady gave me?

useless garbae unless you are treating for ich or some other disease IMO, and i still dont like putting it in my tanks.

mollys are actually brackish water fish so yes they need salt

how do you use it to treat ich? because I think my fish have it or atleast 2 of them do.

Mollies will live just as happily in fresh water, and being as though they are kept in it through perhaps most if not all of their lives from breeders to pet shops, they would need to be acclimated to brackish conditions. Which are achieved not through the use of aquarium salt, but through the use of the reef salts.

to make water brackish you add marine salts NOT aquarium salt.
