I typically add some aquarium salt to my non-planted tank, but what about adding it to a planted tank? Is this something that anyone does or doesn't do?

Some plants & fish like slightly brackish water. If you're keeping those kinds of fish then you need to add salt. If not, you shouldn't be adding it.
