Yup like they said, GE silicone I is great, I would stay away from II unless absolutely necessary. I have used it several times with no problems. 24 hours is usually good for normal applications but waiting longer is always a safer route.
Curious question. Permatex offers a regular black silicone, doesn't say much, just that its an all purpose sealant. Can anyone tell me if they've used it before, cause its about the only place I can find the stuff save for online, and alot of times they want twice the price for what it can be had in store.
For all the tanks i've sealed, i've used GE RTV-108 (clear) or RTV-103 (Black). This stuff stinks while it cures but it's the best for "permanent glass-to-glass adhesion and constant submersion". (as said by GE's CSR). I re-sealed my 220 about 10 years ago, a 55 about 8 years ago and just re-did my 92 corner last night. I get mine from Grainger.com.
Ahh, perfect then Cory - that's exactly what i did too. Grainger P/N 4UH10 for black and 4UH12 for clear. (I literally just bought this stuff Thursday, so the receipt is handy.)
