I have just noticed that my DIY stand under my 30gal is starting to lean forward in 1 corner, and with a new puppy coming home tomorrow I need to fix this ASAP. I am curious if I use the filter and water out of the 30gal and put in in my old 10 gal until the stand can be fixed do I need to wait for it to cycle? 10gal was up and running until 3 weeks ago.

the filter from the 30 gal, used on the 10 gal, with all the same fish, shouldn't need to be cycled. The only thing you will have to worry about is the actual space requirements of the fish. (maybe the current... might be too strong. What kind of filter is it?)

The filter is an Aqua Tech 20-40 HOB. I should be able to do the repairs in less then an hour so fish won't be in 10gal for very long. Unfortunately I need to remove the 30gal to do repairs(or fix my screw up :( Im a welder not a carpenter)

I wouldn't worry. Even w/o the filter, a couple hours wouldn't be long enough for ammonia to build up.
