I am looking to build a lower aquarium stand. does anyone have any places where i can get some plans cause i dont have a clue on how to build one.... and also how do i got about moving my 75 gallon aquarium from one stand to another cause the thing is heavier than all hell.. really need help here guys and gals. thanks alot the cichlid loverz

i dont know about the stands but i do know about moving the tank. get a new bucket or something for the fish the bigger the better. try to keep 50% of the water if you cant you can always keep 20%-30%. take the water out move the tank fill it up with the new and old water. it would just be like a water change. keep the filter and the gravel wet and you will be fine.
Here is the brand new stand. toook my 3 days to build and is better than the stand that i bought for 120.. this all together was fifty bucks. what you think?

The only thing that concerns me is that there isn't any cross braces for such a large tank.
Is it nailed or screwed together? (I see a hammer in the pic).
Would be stronger screwed and glued. Nails will loosen up over time....

It will be fine. If he didn't have center braces, then I'd say there might be an issue. Given the dimension of the lumber he used, there's no issue here.

So if it isn't perfectly level what to keep it from tilting over in time, that's right nothing; even if it is level and some thing bumps into it the same thing can happen. But if he put in two cross braces it would make it that much stronger and prevent that from happening.

This guy used heavy lumber, not the 5/4 (5/4 being roughly 3/4" to the eye) dimensional wood that most stands are made out of at best. In the middle are actually two 2x4 in the front and back for a total of four center braces that are tied into 2x4 of the base. Also, you can see in the back where he does have some sort of 2x6 or 2x8 span tied in at the bottom. That's more than enough for bracing. My only real complaint would be use of nails vs screws - granted nails of the proper size/lenght would do. Also, the top looks to be made out of several pieces of wood spanned to the middle, not completely across. I would suggest laying down some 3/8 plywood, and then foam otherwise he may be looking at tank issues.
I plan to make mine entirely out of 5/4 pine. I'm hoping to start that in a couple months if I ever decide on the tank, and can find the time.
Hopefully, all of our input here will lhelp him make any last minute tweaks to his design.
I'm not freaking out I just said what concerned me, if you or him don't want to put in cross braces I don't care it's your stands if it was mine I would add them.
