Hey, Renee - maybe you could make an appointment with the jerk principal and .. calmly tell him that you did your very best, and that you need to work. If he had problems with you, (calmly) ask him what you could do differently to do better, so that in your next job you will be a better teacher. I know this is BS, but bullies are cowards, and almost always back down if called on it. You might have to take a tranquilizer to get through it, but it might stop the idiot from the bad mouthing. It may or may not work, but it beats starving. We all know that you are right and he is a butthead, but petty tyrants sometimes need ego stroking.
Since I have kind of a strong personality, I have often freaked out insecure conductors - a couple of which had made the job absolute torture. Sometimes it's better to appease the ego to all get along.
You could put the focus on the joy of art and the enthusiasm you have to enlighten the little cretins. And art makes kids smart - both sides of the brain and all...

I feel for you Rosita. I had to quit my job back in April of this year because of a power tripping new manager. I filled out applications, and still am, no less than two per week per umemmployment guidelines, and I have not had one telephone call or response from any employer. Luckily Im at a place in life where I do not have to have a job. Was able to rent my house out and my hubby likes the fact that I can be in the house and take care of it. All in all its a very tough market out there nowadays regardless of your qualifications.

I know how you feel, Renee. The only way I'm gonna even get an interview is if someone inside can vouch for me BEFORE I turn in an application/resume. Hang in there, we love ya!
