I'm considering going with CO2 injection for my next planted tank (which is going to be a 125 gallons). This system from aquariumplants.com:

http://www.aquariumplants.com/product_p/pr4026.htm

looks pretty good, but at $379 is not exactly cheap. I don't know .. maybe all the stuff it includes really does cost that much. So the question is do I really need all the components that system has.

Looks to be a pretty easy thing to set up though. It might be worth the cost to make things easy.

Anybody have any experience with this system? Or if you have experience with CO2 systems in general, does this system look good?

Its nice if you need a ph monitor/controller and a nice diy reactor, The co2 system would still need a co2 tank and with the size of your tank you want a 10# or 20# tank cost $100+ or your looking at 479+ shipping. If you are looking to go cheaper you can always get the Milwaukee regulator around $89 shipped buy a co2 tank from a local welding shop $100 some co2 tubing $10 and make your own pvc co2 reactor $20, and if you want the ph monitor its around $105 for around $300 you would have everything.

If you've got a standard 125G (i.e. 6 footer), then you might want to consider using a manifold & double reactor system, because otherwise it might be difficult to get good circulation throughout the entire tank. Personally I wouldn't consider a pH controller necessary either unless you're really concerned about gassing your fish...a solenoid is good enough for saving CO2.

*Edit* I should point out that I do not own a tank that large, so my suggestion is simply based on information read elsewhere.

I have that system and like it. my ph never fluctuates from where i want it. My tank is 150g. Heavily planted and stocked. The unit is electronic and delivers bubbles immaculately. increasing or decreasing pressure fluctuates input nicely. The count never varies. I love it. It will last a long time. It is a bit costly, but worth the money over the life of the unit. Thumbs up here!

Thanks everybody for the responses. I was going to buy a new 125g tank for $1000+ (stand and everything), but then came across a nice looking used one on craigslist for $500. Which leaves more room in my budget for other things (i.e. a fancy CO2 injection system). So I'll most likely get this thing.
