I have 1 of the long grabber/ cutter tool that is actually an "aquarium" tool. DrsFosterSmith sells them for about $12. Mine came with one of my tanks that I got off of CL. I only use the cutter/scissor part as the grabber part is too weak to grab much. The scissor is great for use in my deeper tanks. Other than that I use:
tweezers
salad tongs
long handled bbq tongs (for my deeper tanks)
small spaghetti strainer
wooden skewers
surgical scissors (my hubby swiped when my daughter had her stitches removed)
All of which I already had, but now are dedicated just for tank use.
