aquascaping with crypts

I've grown several variants of crypts in my day and have several still. I have grown Wendti, Willisi, Ciliata, Walkeri, and Undulata variants, maybe another I've forgotten. In my experience in high light tanks, the larger variants were Walkeri and Ciliata, although my Ciliata variant NEVER got as big as Djlen listed. Mine did great, and sent up another leaf probably close to twice a week. The shoot would go straight up for about 4 inches, then the whole stem would very quickly begin to bend over (almost 90 degree algle) and continue to grow to about 8" length stems. I don't mean at the 4" height they would bend, I mean that after growing straight up, they would lean over and the whole stem would grow almost parallel to the gravel. It was a very large leafed plant, and very neat and uniform look to it, being so neatly bent!

They smallest varieties are the Wendti and the Willisi, of which the Wendti has been the smaller of the two in my tanks, and the Willisi need a bit more light. They send off runners very often though!

I'd say that I would only use these for mid to forground positions, unless you are setting up a little bit different look for the aquascaping. I really enjoy these plants (all crypts) and have really not had much experience with melting. I have had a few drop stems for the first week or two, but then quickly recovered. I've even had them floating on the surface of the water for over 6 months waiting for a tank to be set up, with no melting or losses. I planted them in sand/flourite, and they just started growing again! :)

thanks for the advice, you guys are flippin awsome. i am going to go work on my num-chuck skills. Actually i am going to watch napoleon dynamite.....if you have never watched napoleon dynamite you probably think i am crazy.....

In the end I see a crypt dominated tank. With the equivelent of 110W of PC's on my 55 i will have no problem growing all but the highest light demanding variants

Sounds like it'll be gorgeous (I adore Crypts :)), please post pics when it's done!
:OT: When I first watched Napoleon Dynamite, I wasn't sure what to think. It's grown on me over time - I'm sure it'll become a classic.
