Has anyone dealt with them before? They are local to me so I can avoid shipping costs, and I'm assuming I can pick plants myself. I'm getting a 55G ready (75lbs of substrate (60 lbs of Profile 15 pounds of Flourish). Also I'm planning 200 watts of light (going for high light) and a DIY CO2 system. Not sure on what fish I want to add other than some Gourami's and Tetras.

Thanks

-Mike

I have dealt with them before and would give them an A. I live in upstate NY and the plants have always arrived packed well and in good shape. I ordered a long time ago so I can't give any details but I'd say they are definitely worth a shot.

OT: I am moving to Tampa in 3 months and didn't know they were local. Where are they located? I would love to swing by and see their premises.

Here is a link for a bunch of local fish farms..

Hillsborough County ( Tampa ) is the largest area of the country for Tropical Fish farming. So if you are willing to do some research you can find wholesalers for almost anything. Not all sell to the public, but a bunch do, and the prices are awesome.

Just a side note, the weather here today is cold, the high is only 69....... Last week we were in the 80s. Enjoy the move, and drop me a line when you get to town.

We were down in December and the whole week we were there it was high 50's to low 60's and very windy. It was even below freezing most of the week at night. Wen we left it was 80 again :) We are going down again in 3 weeks to find our apartment. I can't wait to get out of NY :shake:

Are their plants seasonal? I ask b/c last I checked, they were out of a several plants. I may end up ordering from them ALL THE WAY FROM UPSTATE NY...lucky you Godslayer!:sad

Bunky, do you care to back up your claim?

If you wash your plants like I do you would never have snail problems. I never had any snails from APD.

So soak the plants overnight in 1 tsp of alum per gallon of water? This is supposed to rid the plants of snails as well as eggs correct?

Snails?! Bring 'em on, my loaches love 'em!

I don't think you have to soak them overnight?

Ordered Online

I have ordered from them twice, the first time about a year ago, and my second shipment arrived (in Missori) tonight!

Both times I was satisfied. Their plants are freshly cut, healthy and plentiful. For twenty-five bucks I practically filled up my 55 gallon tonight. (I got a bunch of the cheaper plants, as I am still experimenting with my new high-light CO2 system.)

Anyhow, 10 out of 10 in my book. I have also ordered from Aquabotanic, but chose Aquatic Plant Depot for this order.
