i will be moving Sunday night....will be moving to a home that is almost 3 times bigger than my present apartment (which really isn't saying much because my present apartment is only 240 square feet).

I have seen mention many times of people having a plant nursery to start plants, presumably to transplant them into a tank so that the tank will automatically be populated by fully grown plants and avoid the barren tank syndrome.

What is the ideal shape for this kind of tank? Would a 2 foot long, 18" high and 6" deep tank be ideal (I am guessing that this shape would provide the most natural lighting for the plants (top front and back)? What other suggestions do you have to speed the growth process in an environment where you don't have to consider the well being of fish also?

probably something like a plastic under-bed storage container would be good, they are usually shallow with a big footprint, and made of clear or translucent material.
