Aquatraders: Unreal prices-is it quality?

Has anyone ever had any experience with www.aquatraders.com ? They now run a full page ad in Aquarium Fish Magazine every month. Anyway, I went to their site and everything is priced at least 50% below normal.

Examples:

4 x 55 watt compact flourescent fixture with bubs $60.00

2 x 55 watt compact flourescent fixture with bulbs $40.00

10 gal. nano cube w/ compact fixture and filter $30.00

275gph external protein skimmer $35.00

UV sterilizer w/ pump $30.00

IS THIS STUFF JUST POOR QUALITY CRAP?

I am thinking of buying a compact flourescent fixture. Has anyone ever had experience with any procuct from this site. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
 
jebo lights dont last too long, and their customer service is supposed to suck jsut as bad.
 
the one i had the ballast started making lots of noise and the light flicked after a week and a half. so i returned it before it was too late, not sure if it woulda died in a few days or it could have gone for a few more years. this other guy i knew his burnt out in a month or so. their prices are cheap bulbs for the fixutres cost as much as the setup, so you can get one and hope for the best.
 
Aquatraders are liars!!

Do not buy from aquatraders!!!!I bought an alleged 305w HQI system for 179.00 with a unheard of 175watt double ended metal halide bulb which don't exist.They're also selling a 285 one at the same price with a 150w halide which is more like it.Why would they sell the same exact models and pass them off as 175watts?They have no response to that.You cannot get 175 DE anywhere!I guess when you buy cheap,you get cheap.I'm trying to shut them down.Save up for orbit or coralife.I'm stuck with it for now.

Thats because there is no such thing as a DE 175 watt bulb. There are 150 DE and 250 DE bulbs. Most of the eleectronic 175 watt ballasts will power th 150 DE bulbs.

I know about the 150a nd 250De bulbs.I wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt at first and I thought maybe That was a new Item or something but I did'nt do my homework before buying that piece of crap.I have it for now and it works but for how long?Anyway,Bought the Orbit Hqi system with the 150de and 2x96w dual actinic bulbs.I believe they're better than coralife.
 
Zanymaster I want to help close it down tooo ! I got the 305 stealdeal TOO :mad2: I didnt know about the bulb WOW this has to be illegal, the one I have works but the noise from ballast is saying not for long I got to tell a true story Of service I got when I called to find out why my fixure wasnt working properly ,1st call I was told to plug it into another socket and wait at least 20 to 30 min.2nd call I was told to wait untill after 9.00 pm when there would be more current getting to the fixture due to not having on electric apl. dish washer, lights etc. and stupid me:duh: my first thought I need a fixture to work when I want it to not that he was telling me somthing stupid!!!!! well next morning I found out my connections wasnt lined up right ! the guy never told me to double check that , When I got mine no one knew about them, I plan on telling anyone I can about there stealdeal!!!!I want to see them go down where they belong. That would be worth 179.00 :thud:
