Aqueon Aquarium Water Changer

They're also on sale on that link until 2/2/09! Online only though. Looks like a pretty good deal. Wish I hadn't already committed to buying a bunch of plants!

I use a Python daily at work and I have to say I think that the Aqueon's pump is a much better design then the Python. I like the valve switch on the pump rather then the Python where you have to pull the bottom of the pump down and turn it. We have gone through a few pumps in the last couple of years. The one downside I see in the Aqueon is the size of the gravel vac tube. Depending on the size of your tank you might want to look into a longer tube. Just my .02.

I agree with you that the Aqueon water changer has some advantages over the Python. I also agree that the length of the tube is disappointing (my tank is 29" deep). I found a great solution to this issue. I had previously purchased a Marineland "Siphon" with an extra long tube:

The tube from the Marineland products comes off and fits on the Aqueon water changer (though the Aqueon tube does NOT fit on the Marineland syphon). This gave me exactly what I wanted.

it's a nice design.. i have a python and well.. it works but the parts are not very good.. I have problems where the valve on the tube breaks the hose connectors.

I have been replacing them with lees.
I like this one even more ;)(Aqueon)
