Aqueon Evolve 8 - pros/cons?

The Evolve 4 has a roughly 9" x 9" front panel. The Evolve 8 has a roughly 12" x 12" front panel. That puts it about 44% bigger viewing area than the Evolve 4. The light for the Evolve 8 has 35 chips. 30 white chips and 5 blue ones. They are still being made.

Sorry but I can't give you any information on what may be in store for the future. :lipssealedsmilie:

OK, I know many have said recently that the 4 and 8 are on clearance at PetSmart (or Petco-- I forget) so I wondered if they are on the way out of the line…. OH, how about difference in viewing area as far as gallons (if you can)?
Thanks!

I believe the evolve 8 has about 6.3 gallons in the viewing area while the rest is used by the filter. Im not 100% sure but Andy will know the deffinate answer.

Im hoping that Aqueon will make a larger system using the same filteration setup. I would love to have a 12 or larger version of the evolve.

I am not sure I understand what you are asking. To me it seems like you are asking in the difference in viewing area between the two sizes (Evolve 4 and Evolve 8) which I already answered. The difference would be the difference between the 9" x 9" area of the 4 and the 12" x 12" area of the 8.

Are you asking for the difference in volume in the display section between the two sizes?

In that case it would be 4.9 gallons for the 8 and 2.3 gallons for the 4 or 2.6 gallons larger.

I am not sure how much longer they will be at Petco and Petsmart but they aren't the only retailers in town. The large retailers tend to rotate out their items and replace them with new ones every year. They have been at both for more than 3 years now so they had a good run.

I know you said there are 30 white and 5 blue but am wondering the watts of each bulb.

I am comparing the tank with the Innovative Marine Nuvo Nano 8. They are both almost the exact dimensions, but the Nuvo is glass. The Nuvo pump is 92 watts per gallon. There are (6) 1-watt white LED lights and (4) 1/2 watt blue lights. Filtration varies a little but both tanks are customizable if that should be desired later on.

If anyone has any other thoughts between the two tanks I'd welcome any feedback. The Nuvo is $200 which is quite a bit more than the Evolve 8.. Thanks much!
