What do you guys think of them in general?

I picked one up with a used tank in very good condition a while back and it seems to work fine and it is very quiet, but I dont like using these cartridges with carbon all the time. Any ideas on how to Mod it?

Thanks!

Aqueon used to go by the name of All-glas. To remove the carbon use a razor blade to cut a slit in the bottom. Using it longer than 4 weeks renders the carbon useless anyhow.

I've been thinking of doing that or stripping all of the floss off them wrapping it in thicker floss with some hot glue or silicone.
What do you guys think about this "bio-holster"? I've been switching out cartridges every once in a while with no ill effects or spikes but I am running a UGF too...

I don't really trust the filter's bio-grid, it just doesn't look like something that could hold onto a lot of bacteria. The submerged pump and no bypass makes the filter excellent for mechanical filtration though.

You can also fit some floss or sponge in the little chamber to the left, or a prefilter.

kind of a vamped up whisper ;)

dr fosters (btw) has new inserts that have clam shells frames. they may have something that will interchange.

I use them on the penguin filters and use floss in them
